this is a very good book, especially for new believers

Actually, this is a very good book, especially for new believers. I got it primarily to learn about being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking and praying in tongues. Andrew Wommack does a very good job explaining this. I was Born Again 35 years ago, but was taught very little about the Gifts of the Spirit, as I should have been, thus my purchase. I highly recommend this book!

Excellent Summary of Salvation and Baptism in the Holy Spirit

This is an excellent explanation of these two basic steps in the Christian walk. It covers all the basics, and explains why the baptism in the Holy Spirit is important in every believer's life. It also explains how to receive the baptism, and where water baptism fits into the picture. I ordered it because it is great for sharing, explaining very succinctly but thoroughly the things every believer needs to know.

About the Author
Lawrence Block has been writing award-winning mystery and suspense fiction for half a century. His newest book, pitched by his Hollywood agent as “James M. Cain on Viagra,” is The Girl with the Deep Blue Eyes. His other recent novels include The Burglar Who Counted The Spoons, featuring Bernie Rhodenbarr; Hit Me, featuring philatelist and assassin Keller; and A Drop Of The Hard Stuff, featuring Matthew Scudder, brilliantly embodied by Liam Neeson in the new film, A Walk Among The Tombstones. Several of his other books have also been filmed, although not terribly well. He's well known for his books for writers, including the classic Telling Lies For Fun & Profit and Write For Your Life, and has recently published a collection of his writings about the mystery genre and its practitioners, The Crime Of Our Lives. In addition to prose works, he has written episodic television (Tilt!) and the Wong Kar-wai film, My Blueberry Nights. He is a modest and humble fellow, although you would never guess as much from this biographical note.

A guilty pleasure

It's not Eight Million Ways to Die or even Girl with the Long Green Heart, but I couldn't help liking this book. It's fast-paced, with wildly implausible action scenes and tongue-in-cheek humor. (I particularly liked the part where one of the commandos would tape a knife to his leg and then sneak up behind someone, remove the knife quiety, and kill him. Really? How does the intended victim not hear you ripping duct tape off your leg?)

I realize this book is deeply silly on many levels. But it's like watching a James Bond movie from the 70's: Yes, the plot barely makes sense. And yes, the characters are little more than cardboard cutouts. But you still can't turn away because it's so much fun seeing what comes next.

One interesting twist in this story was that the "good guys" were arguably morally worse than the bad guys. In fact, throughout the book, the menacing gangsters never actually killed anyone. Oh, they threatened and they beat a few people up, but nothing like the "good guy" commandos who basically ran around killing gangsters, gangster wives, and hapless security guards almost at random.

But hey, who doesn't like a good shoot-em-up every once in a while?

This forgotten gem is the reason I love eBooks. A long-fan of Block (and of pulp fiction from days past), It's so nice to discover books I've never heard of. Definitely worth a few hours of your time. I finished this book instantly wishing there was another I could start.

Ah, what might have been. This novel reads like it's part of a series, but, alas, Lawrence Block only wrote about these guys in one book. Too bad because this is LB at his best. The characters are strong, the plot is fun, and it's dark, dark, dark. It won't take you long to read it, so go ahead and find this one. One of my favorites.

An average book

The Holy CEO is an account of the growth of a business and the spiritual evolution of its European founder - Christian Fabre alias Pranavananda Brahmendra Avadhuta.

I found this book to be mildly interesting.The story of the business seemed like the everyday tale of most businesses anywhere in the world.I also did not find not much evidence of Christian Fabre's spiritual struggle - it seemed like he had a straight forward spiritual blossoming.

Apart from the giving us an account of how a white business man had also become a respectable sadhu, this book does not have much that is truly interesting to communicate.

The first half of the book was great, but latter half was mindblowing. I thought I'd predicted where the story was going to go before I started reading, but wow was I wrong! Can't wait for book two!  ~ Andrew Cauchi, Customer "A great story, great characters and great writing makes for one of the best forced feminization novels I have ever read. The beautiful descriptions realize a character that is emasculated and humiliated through his own choosing right until the very end. It makes for some very hot reading. When the scammer's sugar-daddy finds out that his girlfriend (then fiance') is a man, the events that follow are hands-down the best material I've ever read dealing with forced-feminisation, with the victim then secretly becoming the scammer, and getting the shemale character to do all sorts of horrible things (I'll give you a hint: it involves surgery :) All in all, a very well written story. The story kept me entertained all week, which is not something I can say for the other stories in this genre. The fact that there are so many sections devoted to the male-version of the character at the beginning might be a turn off for some, but I personally think that the transformation is much hotter when you know the character a bit better. I'm looking forward to seeing the sequel which the author hinted at in the final paragraph! I'm betting it's the side-effects from the surgery!"  ~ Marcus Kerr, Customer

Great Sex, Great Characters

Excellent novella. If you are into feminization tales, this is a great buy. True, there are a lot of highly sexual scenes (and even some sex!), but what really got me was the character dynamics. Daniel Minchin DESPISES gay people, transgender women, and frankly women in general, and so to watch him force his own transformation is excellent. Perhaps my favorite thing is that he does not become "a woman in heart and soul" at the end, which a lot of these sorts of stories do and which always seemed unrealistic to me. Also, the deuteragonist/victim Ben Davis was much more interesting than I expected - while he does start out as the typical "lonely sad rich guy is seduced by gold digger" character he turns out to be made of a lot more *cough* sterner stuff *cough cough* than you might think.

I suppose the greatest endorsement I can give the book is that this is the first review I have ever written for ANY book. Take that as you will.

An excellent aid for Masons

Being a 1925-vintage volume, the verbiage is a bit archaic by today's standards. That said, this is an excellent review of the three degrees of Blue Lodge Masonry, explaining symbolism and activity in Masonic terms. Any Master Mason will find this enlightening, especially one who has recently progressed through the degrees. It serves as an excellent gift to newly-raised Master Masons. The book is readable and full of perspectives and knowledge. Its target audience is brother Masons. Well recommended.
